On 23rd of November 2011 our restaurant Rodizio was chosen again to host the 2nd BND - Brazilian Network Day. The event was organized by the Brazilian Embassy in The Netherlands with the aim to foster business cooperation between Dutch and Brazilians entrepreneurs, politicians and executives from large corporations in the country. Mr. Jose Artur Denot Medeiros - Brazil‘s ambassador in The Netherlands and Mr. Henk Kool the vice-mayor of The Hague were present in the event that was an absolute success! The Brazilian champions volleyball players Talita Antunes and Maria Antonelli have been to Rodizio last weekend after they beat Holland in the Swatch FIVB World Tour 2010 in Scheveningen.

What are your names? Where were you born?
Bob, Jan, and Natalie Essad. Born in the USA.
How long have you been living in The Netherlands?
Since March 2010.
What is your age? Did you come with your family?
Bob - 49, Jan- 54. Natalie - 23
Jan and Bob arrived in March and Natalie came in June.
When did you come up with the idea of living in The Netherlands?
Bob was offered a job here in The Hague last year.
How do you make your living in The Netherlands?
Bob works for the NATO Consultation Command and Control Agency.
Do you speak the local language and do you think it’s important to speak the local language?
Not yet but we have books and plan to take courses to learn Dutch. We do believe it’s important to be able to converse with the local population in their language. We really enjoy the interaction with all the local people.
Do you miss home and family sometimes?
We do miss our family back in the U.S. but we are accustomed to traveling and living in other countries and we know our life is where we are at the moment. Of course we are hoping many relatives and friends will come to visit!
What do you think about the Dutch people?
We have many Dutch friends and enjoy their openness and good nature. They have been a wonderful source of learning true Dutch customs and culture.
What are the positive and negative aspects of living in The Netherlands?
It is more expensive to live here but staying involved with all that is available to do here is wonderful. We love European history and enjoy visiting the many cities and sites in the Netherlands.
Do you have any tips for our readers about living in The Netherlands?
Enjoy all living in a foreign country has to offer, do all you can, whenever you can and with all the local people you can! Leave no stone unturned!!
How did you feel about winning a trip to Brazil fully paid by restaurant Rodizio in the World Cup 2010 this summer?
It is truly unbelievable!! We have never been to Brazil and feel very fortunate to have eaten wonderful Brazilian food at the restaurant and now to actually visit the country...OF COURSE ....WE LOVE IT!!
